How to Create a Dressmaker’s Gift
What if you could make your own dressmaker’s item without the use of a computer?
That is exactly what Disney Imagineers are trying to do with Cinderella Little Dressmakers, a digital game they hope will bring the Cinderella story to life and spark creativity.
The game was created by Walt Disney Imagineering and is available now for iPhone and iPad.
Each Cinderella dressmaker has a specific function in the game that can be customized, and it takes a team of Disney Imagineer designers to create the pieces, which can be worn by a doll, a puppet, or even a real-life Cinderella herself.
Disney ImagineER Jennifer Pfeiffer told National Geographic that she and her team designed the game to be fun for kids ages 5 to 8, and for girls ages 12 and up.
In the game, each character’s dressmaker comes with a few special items that can transform a dress into something different.
Pfeisters team also developed a game that takes place at a Disney Imagineered studio, which lets kids use a digital 3D printer to print their own dressmakers’ items, and use the printable dresses as part of a group project.
The Disney Imagineery is currently working on a second game about the characters that they hope to launch soon.
For now, Pfeffers team is focused on making the Cinderella dressmakers even more unique.
She said that the team is also developing an interactive, digital printable version of Cinderella’s hair.
“We want to make Cinderella the Cinderella we know and love and want to share with others,” she said.
“We hope this will give people the chance to experience her story in new ways, and that will give them more creative control over their own Cinderella creations.”
Cinderella Little Dressmaker is available for iPhone, iPad, and Android.
It is currently available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
